I haven’t written anything in awhile, have I? Well, I wanted to share something with you that I read recently that is quite beautiful. It is a Jewish blessing. This blessing is said over daughters at important times in their life and over them during the Sabbath ceremony of the Jews. I thought you might enjoy it as it is so beautiful and full of meaning! It is rather long, though I don’t think it is usually all said at one time.
May the Lord make you like Sarah and Rebecca,
like Rachel and Leah who together built the house of Israel.
May your entire life be fruitful.
May you be favored by your husband and be blessed with children.
May the Lord’s full will for you be accomplished in your life.
The Lord bless you and keep you.
The Lord cause his face to shine upon you and be gracious unto you.
The Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.
Blessed are you of the Lord, my daughter,
for you have been kind and generous.
The Lord is your God, and his people are your people.
May all the people know of certainty that you are a virtuous daughter.
May your mouth speak with wisdom.
May your heart meditate with reverence.
May your hands do the work that God has given you.
May your feet hasten to follow the path that God has laid out for your life.
May the Spirit of the Lord, the spirit of wisdom and understanding,
the spirit of cousel and power,
the spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord be upon you.
